So… What Will You Do This Summer?

Punta Sal Beach

Summer is a season for joy, fun, exploration, and soaking up the sun. And what better place to do it all than in a country as marvelous and generous as Peru?

For kids, it’s a magical time—free from school, with endless chances to play outside and create unforgettable memories with family in new and exciting places.

Parents, take note! Summer is essential for your kids’ recreation—and your own! Adults can make the most of this summer time with beach getaways in Piura or Lima, or by exploring the countless attractions and destinations Peru has to offer.

Let’s not forget that tourism is one of the cornerstones of Peru’s development. And when it comes to Peruvian summers, the possibilities are endless.

Here are some ideas to make sure your summer is packed with fun and adventure:

Lima Anniversary Celebrations

If you’re not planning to leave the capital, don’t worry—Lima offers plenty of attractions to keep you busy. From natural spaces and historical landmarks to modern structures and vibrant city life, Lima is one of the most exciting capital cities in the world.

Amusement Parks

During summer, outdoor rides and activities along Lima’s Costa Verde are a huge draw:

  • Divertijockey: A relatively new amusement park offering inflatable attractions, arcade games, a food court, mechanical rides, PlayStation competitions, and live appearances by young artists. Entry: just 10 soles. Open daily from noon to 9 PM.

  • Evenpro Park: A summer favorite, located right on the Costa Verde in Magdalena. With 30 rides you can enjoy as many times as you want, a mini-circus, food court, interactive petting zoo, candy stands, carnival-style snacks, skill games, and more, this park is fun for the whole family.

Northern Beaches

Places like Máncora, Los Órganos, Pocitas, Lobitos, and Vichayito are among the most recommended coastal destinations to enjoy a full-on Peruvian summer.

Pools

Not a fan of the beach? No problem. Lima’s water parks and public pools are a great way to beat the heat in a family-friendly setting.

Summer in Peru lasts from December through late March—four glorious months of sun and warmth. Make the most of it, because sunlight is rare during the rest of the year, except in certain regions of the country.

The sun is a blessing. The ancient Incas worshipped it as a supreme deity. In fact, many ancient civilizations around the world revered the sun as a divine being—often their highest god.

Made mostly of hydrogen and helium, the sun is not only the source of all life, but also a vital part of humanity’s history and sustenance—and today, it’s key to thriving tourism across the globe.

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the sun, surrounded by the kind of breathtaking destinations and vibrant culture that only Peru can offer.
