Lunahuaná is one of Peru’s most vibrant festivals—a celebration of grapes, wine, and adventure sports. It’s a joyful tradition that pays tribute to the ancient ways of our ancestors, minus the bloodshed and drama. Here, it’s all about life, joy, and passion.
Wine is, after all, a symbol of celebration and pleasure. Whether on a fancy table or in a casual glass, it always makes its presence known. The magic lies in fermentation, the grape, and the ancient maceration process—giving us one of history’s most iconic and beloved beverages.
From the days of Ancient Rome to the so-called “barbarian” tribes like the Gauls, Franks, and Phoenicians—and even during the legendary conquests of Genghis Khan—wine has been part of battles, feasts, intimate moments, and everyday life.
So it makes sense to honor it—at least once a year—with a festival that embraces how wine helped shape human history and culture through the ages.
On March 10, 11, and 12, hundreds of visitors once again gathered for the 27th edition of the Lunahuaná Festival, celebrating life, joy, and a deep love of wine.
Despite the less-than-perfect weather in the Lunahuaná valley, the town in Cañete province, Lima, successfully pulled off another full-scale edition of the event. And we always root for it!
The beauty of this festival is that there’s no complicated checklist to attend. Just bring your best energy—because it’s not just about grape stomping, sipping wine and pisco, or catching a cultural program. It’s about awakening your senses: taste, smell… and yes, even your liver. Your whole body gets involved in the activities Lunahuaná has in store.

The festival includes:
- Rafting and kayaking races
