A successful and innovative model has arrived in Latin America, going all in and shaking up Peruvian and international airlines with fairy-tale prices. These tickets are being offered for just 60 soles.
Can you imagine flying for 60 soles? It used to be the stuff of futuristic movies like Back to the Future, but believe it or not, today it’s possible to travel at that price.
Opportunity, accessibility, innovation, and smart strategies are the engines that move, strengthen, and develop societies across the globe.
Innovation is as natural to us as the ability to reason and break through outdated paradigms—whether they’re social, technological, economic, or cultural. Without it, we’d still be living in caves.
Even in nature, change is constant. Just look at Darwin’s theory of evolution—adapting and improving is a natural law.
So what could be more natural than progress? That’s exactly what we’re seeing now in the airline industry in Latin America, specifically with companies like LATAM, Viva Colombia, and Viva Air Perú. These airlines have rolled out a revolutionary new model: low-cost travel.
Let’s take a closer look at how this low-cost model works and the companies bringing it to life in Peru, like Viva Air Perú. LATAM is already implementing this strategy in countries like Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, and of course, Peru. Meanwhile, Viva Colombia continues to grow in Colombia.
The introduction of the low-cost model was spearheaded by Irelandia Aviation, a bold player behind a chain of affordable airlines. They helped launch routes like Airbuses (operating between Mexico and the U.S.) and Viva Colombia, a well-established name in the region.
And now, Viva Colombia has helped launch a new affiliate: Viva Air Perú, extending this budget-friendly model into Peruvian skies with all the optimism and practicality it brings.
In fact, this airline already accounts for up to 80% of total traffic between Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport and Bogotá’s El Dorado Airport.
For its debut, Viva Air Perú will offer domestic flights starting at just 60 soles across seven destinations: Lima, Trujillo, Arequipa, Tarapoto, Iquitos, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Piura.
A few key points to keep in mind:
These will be domestic routes only.
Flight durations will average around 30 minutes.
Any extras—such as snacks, drinks, or carry-on bags over 6 kg—will cost you a little extra.
Sales begin in April 2017, and flights officially start in May.
Don’t miss the chance to explore this beautiful country at a beautiful price!
