Are you the adventurous type? Do you crave immersive travel experiences? Would you dare join us on a backpacking journey through the marvels of Peru?
If your answer is yes, then lace up your best walking shoes, pack light, throw on something comfortable, and eat a hearty breakfast—because we’re just getting started.
Our journey begins in Lima, Peru’s capital—a city full of nightlife, noise, and modern charm.
Where to stay? Try The Point Hostel in Lima, highly recommended at just 25 soles per night.
From there, we head north to Cajamarca, passing through Chimbote. From Chimbote, take a bus on a 12-hour journey to Cajamarca for around 40 soles.
Cajamarca is a beautiful colonial city historically known as the site where Inca leader Atahualpa was captured by Spanish general Francisco Pizarro—an infamous moment of deception and conquest.
Cajamarca is a rising star in tourism, just like its neighbor, Trujillo.

Ready for the jungle?
Yes, the Amazon awaits! It might give you goosebumps just thinking about trekking through it with nothing but a backpack—but trust us, it’s worth it.
Your must-see stop? Gocta Waterfall, the third-highest waterfall in the world at 771 meters, after Angel Falls in Venezuela and Tugela Falls in South Africa. Don’t forget your camera—this is one for the books!
Next up, Iquitos, the gateway to the Amazon jungle. Expect to spend around 74 soles and almost a full day to get there.
We know money’s tight, but fingers crossed you’ll find mosquito repellent somewhere along the way!
Feeling bold? Hire a local guide and go deeper into the jungle. And yes—those jungle grubs you see in the market? Give them a try!
Spend the night at Hostal Nuacari for just 10 soles. It’s not fancy, but it’s cheap and gets the job done.
Time to trade jungle for mountains
We’ll head to Huaraz, specifically the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash range. From Iquitos, travel back to Chimbote, then catch a ride to Huaraz (20 soles, 4 hours).
This region is postcard-perfect: snowy peaks, rich culture, and fresh mountain air. Hike Santa Cruz or Huayhuash, explore the flower market, and sleep at Ezama Lodge for just 15 soles. Trust us—you won’t want to leave for at least a week.
Back to the coast
Let’s warm up in the coastal desert of Paracas, near Lima, in the Ica region. Take a boat tour of the Ballestas Islands to see sea lions and seabirds up close.
Then visit Huacachina, a literal oasis in the desert. Ride dune buggies, go sandboarding, and crash at Casa de Arena Hotel for 18 soles.
The Sacred Empire awaits
No Peruvian adventure is complete without Cusco. From Ica, take a bus (80 soles) and immerse yourself in Incan history and Andean folklore. Explore the Sacred Valley, walk the Inca Trail, and behold the legendary Machu Picchu.
You won’t be disappointed.
The Grand Finale
Head south to Arequipa, home of the Colca Canyon and the majestic flight of the Andean condor.
Finally, reach Lake Titicaca in Puno—a magical place of floating islands, handmade reed boats, and native Aymara culture.
⚠️ Important Tips:
