Would you like to explore Peru and discover all its wonders, but find the long road trips exhausting? Airlines today offer a wide variety of routes, packages, and itineraries — tempting options for anyone with a thirst for adventure.
However, for many everyday Peruvians, flying has traditionally felt like a luxury out of reach.
So what can you do? Either find affordable alternatives or give up on the kind of travel that allows you to grow, discover, and connect with the incredible landscapes and cultures that exist — especially within the geographical borders of Peru.
Let’s be honest: giving up on travel is not an option. And here’s the good news — LAN Perú has made a major adjustment to its domestic airfare prices, reducing ticket costs by nearly 50% compared to earlier averages.
LAN Perú is one of the leading airlines not only in the country but also across South America. It has built a global reputation for consistent, quality service, and holds the largest market share in Peruvian aviation.
This fare reduction focuses on domestic flights, aiming to give more Peruvians the opportunity to explore their own country quickly, safely, and affordably. According to Juan Pablo Olivares, Director of Commercial Strategy and Finance at LAN Perú, this measure is expected to stimulate local tourism and mobility.
Olivares cited a past example: after a previous round of fare reductions, domestic air traffic in Peru increased from 2.7 million passengers to 10 million over the span of several years. About 70% of that growth came from people opting for lower-cost tickets.
Even back then, LAN held nearly 65% of the market share, making this initiative a huge win for Peruvian tourism. The airline’s leadership, strategy, and relentless focus on improvement have made it a benchmark in the aviation industry.
It’s important to note that not all routes saw the same discount rate. For example:
Cusco: 50% reduction
Arequipa: 46%
Cajamarca: 29%
Chiclayo: 34%
Trujillo: 35%
Piura: 33%
LAN Perú’s impact didn’t stop there. The launch of direct flights between the United States and Peru three times a week further strengthened the airline’s role in connecting international travelers with Peruvian destinations.
One notable route includes nonstop flights from Washington D.C. to Lima, enhancing tourism flows from one of Peru’s most frequent international visitor bases.
More exciting projects are also underway — including increased air links with destinations like Argentina and Kuélap.
Greatness lies in the will to improve — and LAN Perú is a shining example of that ambition in flight.
