January is a month of renewal, full of fresh ideas, new projects, and the desire to do things differently — and better. It’s a time when ambition flows and innovation takes shape, making it the perfect backdrop for the launch of a bold airline like Viva Air Perú.
This forward-thinking airline is a subsidiary of the Irish group Irelandia Aviation, pioneers of the low-cost flight model and the creators of Ryanair, one of the most successful budget airlines in the world. Irelandia also operates Viva Aerobús in Mexico, Viva Colombia, Allegiant in the U.S., and Tigerair in Asia.
Viva Air Perú gained attention quickly thanks to its accessible fares, becoming the first airline in the country to offer the low-cost model that has already reshaped air travel in other regions. This innovative model is now ready to shine across the skies of Peru.
The airline was born from a strategic alliance between Viva Colombia and Peru. And while it may be new to the market, it brings with it a legacy of experience and reliability from its international family.
Expectations are high. The path ahead is unknown, but projections are optimistic and the interest among travelers is growing.
According to José Castellanos, General Director of Viva Air, the airline will initially connect Lima with Iquitos, Chiclayo, Tarapoto, Piura, Trujillo, Cusco, and Arequipa.
The mission of these low-cost flights is to broaden access to air travel, attract a more diverse group of passengers, and provide a practical option for budget-conscious travelers — whether for leisure or business.
Initial forecasts suggest 700,000 passengers within the first few months and 180 passengers per flight on average for domestic routes.
“With our low prices, commitment to safety, and punctuality, we will help millions of Peruvians realize their dreams by saving both time and money,” said Castellanos Lores.
Of course, as with any budget-friendly service, there are limitations. The most common restriction is on baggage — both checked and carry-on luggage must comply with strict weight and size requirements.
Most of the cutbacks relate to optional comforts. There’s reduced legroom, no complimentary snacks or drinks, and the focus is on efficient, no-frills service at an unbeatable price.
Tickets start at just 60 soles — an extremely competitive fare in today’s market!
Other airlines, like LATAM, are also exploring this low-cost travel model, with each offering its own version — varying in benefits and conditions.
Even when choosing low-cost travel, Peru offers you options.
Take advantage of the fares and flexibility that Viva Air provides. Discover Peru and its stunning tourist destinations the way they’re meant to be experienced — affordably, conveniently, and on your terms.
